What do you answer when you ask yourself:

  • Who am I?
  • What are my values?
  • What are my goals?
  • What’s my purpose?

Can you answer every question clearly and with absolute conviction?

Looking inside yourself is one of the toughest tasks to take on as you will be fully aware of the much needed improvements, qualities to dispose, those to magnify and more to add on.

It’s a hard reality admitting to yourself : “I have weaknesses that need serious improvements”.

But the first and second steps, which are the recognition and acceptance, are the hardest steps.

After those come to light, you’re on your way to growth which entails another beautiful journey to getting to know yourself better and becoming closer to your truth.

You can’t ignore growth; Without it, life is meaningless and stale.

Growth confirms that we matter in this life and we are here to deliver a purpose higher than and beyond ourselves.

I was recently asked: “How can you conform with today’s social norms without losing your morality and at the same time maintaining a healthy lifestyle?”.

I believe what this gentleman was really asking me was: “How do you stay true to yourself when everyone out there needs to see you “fit” in?

It’s a great question, isn’t it?

Here it is:

If you take your stand, stay where most of YOUR growth happens, the “social norms” will not move you off track.

Don’t get me wrong, I love some of the “social norms” but only the ones that serve my purposes and not the other way around. You can be part of so many but you have to stand up and out for your own.

Once you have your path set, you can be part of many things and enjoy them without getting bent in different directions.

Take what you may need from them (relaxation, connection, socializing, etc.) without losing track of your values and directions.

A lot of “labels’ get thrown around if you do or you don’t take part of certain activities and lifestyles from your groups and peers. Take note of that too.

What works for one person may not for another.

When you know who you are deeply no amount of labeling will move and shake you. You can only reply to those with a smirk or the most, a full smile!

Choose to take and learn the better, healthier, educating things for yourself from the same social groups than to give in to what is not you.

Remember, you can start your own “norm” within the society.

We all need to fulfill the feeling of belonging.

Be sure to belong to a place where it helps you get to the next level and not lose you in the deepest darkest forests. Finding your way back will be a whole new other journey!

Go out there, have a blast riding the social wave, stay strong on your path and grow more into YOU.
