It all begins when you’re absolutely tired of the way things are going in your life.

You’re frustrated, annoyed, angry at times, edgy, and you KNOW something has got to change but you don’t know how crucial it is yet.

You continue on your old path and keep moving forward, again, KNOWING something must change but you just don’t have the time to find out what it is. Right?!

No time for yourSELF!

You add a yoga or cycling class to your busy schedule, you plan a night out with your friends, you pick up a new hobby and you slap on a “Self Care” sticker on it all.

Then why is that buzzing sound still there?

Why are you still agitated, on edge, unrestful, and not as confident, giving, and caring as you should be?

Because you KNOW something must change but you’ve been busy “band-aiding” and sweeping it under the rug.

Change has already taken place and you’re about to find out exactly how and in what form.

It’s until that very moment, when you’ve set all your goals and planned your days in much detail and taken action, that you realize:

All that and you’ve hit a brick wall!

Your ultimate dream appears right in front of you and instead of embracing it, you lose your balance and turn on YOURSELF.

Why?

Because you’re not ready to receive yet.

If that doesn’t bring you down on your knees, I don’t know what will.

When you ask for a change in your life, no matter how prepared you are or how much you ignore it, the universe will deliver it to you.

Change is constant.

It happens way more often than you expect and you’ve been busy hanging on too tight to your old path instead of riding the new waves.

Why?

Because you’re afraid.

Afraid? Really? How many times have you done this now?

But every time the goal gets bigger and harder and you fall harder and therefore, must dig deeper.

That is the part you’re avoiding and not the change itself.

Because when we dig deep we find the “not so pretty” things inside and we have to work even harder to find solutions to move forward.

And you thought the uglies were all gone since your last clean up!

So, now that you’re on your knees and torn apart by “the dream” that seems so unreachable now, how can you stand back up?

First of all, ask yourself: Was that my actual dream or was it just a glimpse of it?

It’s actually a slap in the face and a kick in the butt from the universe saying: “Hope you didn’t settle, lose track, or forget about this!”

That’s what the glimpse does: It highlights your most attention deprived feelings and helps you recognize your weak moments.

That’s where your answer lies; the last piece of the puzzle.

It is in our weakest moments that we find most of our strengths.

This is the time to clean and stand back up stronger so here are a few steps to follow:

  1. Stop! Stop! Stop!: When you feel the need for change, you must stop in your tracks and make room for it: simplify and not add on, and silent your mind and listen to your soul speaking to you. Voice your findings to a trusted person and shed some light on it instead of ignoring it.
  2. Listen to your gut feeling: Before and after the change arrives, your instincts and intuitions have communicated and laid out your action steps for you. Take action.
  3. Cut the cord: Cut all the links to patterns, behaviours and comfort zones from the old path. Once you’ve done that, replace them with actions that will get you even one step closer to the dream goal.
  4. Trust no ONE: We all reach out to our loved ones for support and love when we’re in turmoil. It’s a blessing to have them in our lives. However, you’re the ONLY one who lives YOUR moments, feelings, thoughts, wishes, goals, etc. You are most aware of them all. Do not lose track of that when planning your action steps. Seek their advice but be in charge of your decisions.
  5. Never lose track of this point: When you’re in the darkest tunnels and the deepest of pains, there’s light and happiness awaiting you at the end of it all. You may not see it, feel it or believe it exists but it does: that’s your motivation to stand up and climb the ladder back up, and even higher, one step at a time. Keep moving.

It all comes down to loving yourself first.

Here’s how you can test how much you actually love and care for yourself:

When in the dark, what do you say to yourself? How do you treat yourself?

Is that how you treat those you love the most? Your best friend, your children, your parents, your lover, and your partner.

If yes, then you must love YOU very much.

If not, then it’s time for yet another change, my dear.
